When you are sitting up at midnight because you can't breathe your nose is so stuffed up and your husband is on an overnight snow cave camp out with the scouts and your little one is also stuffed up and sacked out in your bed - you probably shouldn't write your first post on a new blog.
However, I'm turning over a new leaf - I'm living in the moment and not worrying so much about what others perceptions might be. I mean after all it is my blog. And by the way, have you read the title? So yes, I am going to write my first post.
Tonight I'm feeling incredibly grateful for my life. I'm thankful I have options and choices in life. I'm thankful for freedom. I'm thankful for education. Millions don't enjoy those privileges. I'm thankful for wisdom that comes from experience, hardship, sorrow, success and dreams fulfilled. I'm thankful I recognize that while everyone gets old, not everyone grows up. I'm pretty excited and extremely grateful that I have the both the ability to comprehend and make the choice of which I want to become. Kind, friendly, wise, graceful, intelligent, compassionate, nurturing, passionate, a leader.... Or a mean girl (I mean woman), who tries too hard to be cool, to fit in, who gossips, is negative, complains, always has a problem, diminishes others to make themselves feel superior and in general advocates, sponsors, endorses, contributes or champions any kind of click, club, sorority, crew, or other secret combination.
So if you like superficiality, competitiveness, private jokes, limited relationships, judging others, feeling superior, pretending to help and be friends but then talk behind someones back, or simply don't like "certain people" - let me be clear - this blog is probably not for you. I mean the sad reality is that the "MG's" don't realize oftentimes that they are just that... mean girls.
Truth is, we all fall into that category at times. We try to be kind, calm and gracious - but we make mistakes, something (or someone) really bugs us, we feel insecure or defensive, or we just need to vent because we are tired and burned out. I'm totally familiar with this, I can't number how many times I have to stop and go back to say, "I'm really sorry", and continue on my own path to becoming the kind of woman I want to be and know I can be.
So to kick off this new blog, here's my promise- I'm not going to write a bunch of stuff about how great I am or show off my cute family or all the cool things I am doing (or not doing!). I'm not going to complain or diss anyone. (I may vent from time to time, after all writing is a stress reliever for me.) What I will do is write about and share things that interest me. I will offer questions, ideas, information that I find important, interesting, outrageous, courageous, charming, fun, humorous... well you get the idea. I will attempt to bring attention to things and people that I feel are uplifting and have an important message to share.
In short - this is my way of writing an instruction blog or an idea scrapbook, a Pinterest kind of deal. Not about things you necessarily make with your hands. But rather things that make you think, so you can make something with your heart.
So welcome to another persons point of view! Please share your views as well in the comments section, as long as they are respectful and appropriate. Sometimes I think when we hear something wildly inappropriate, we often don't correct it immediately for any number of reasons and then it becomes a problem. That won't be the case here. So please be respectful, we are choosing to be ladies and all the word "lady" implies.
Yeah, yeah - I know it may not be viewed as hot, hip, cool or popular to be a lady, but you know what? I think it is cool. Being a girl, young woman, and woman and most of all a lady is the most powerful and beautiful thing in the world. It might look different on you than it does on me, but we all have the ability to be our best selves, share our intelligence and talents, serve, nurture, be happy and light up the world.
So go on girl, do yo thang!
